LONG LIVE DIGGER,
LONG LIVE THE SHORE

For Rapha Performance Trailwear’s Autumn/Winter 2022 collection story, we ventured to what many consider the birth place of modern mountain biking, British Columbia’s North Shore.

Todd “Digger” Fiander, whose name is synonymous with the massively influential North Shore style of trailbuilding, was the mastermind behind many of these trails and continues to sculpt singletrack to this day.

Years ago, when I first rode Digger's trails on one very cold and wet fall morning, I found myself riding down one of his most iconic trails on Mount Fromme, and almost out of nowhere, there he was, moving dirt around by hand and repairing wooden bridges in the pouring rain. We shared a brief chat on the spot, and ever since, I’d been enamored with this special person who has had such an impact on the sport of mountain biking.

It was then that I thought about a story where we could venture up to North Vancouver’s legendary trails with a few of our own riders and capture Digger in his element, doing what he loves. At the same time, this story allowed Rapha to craft a campaign deeply rooted in authenticity, insights and a love for the sport.
